Hi
I drive a 2020 E220d convertible, and am trying to fit a dashcam. Problems as follows!
1. Dashcam destroys the DAB signal even with 2 ferrite filters on the power cable. I'm running the cable from the rear view mirror area, round the sides of the windscreen, eventually to the cigarette lighter in the back. Is hard wiring a better solution?
2. Where do i mount the rear camera in a convertible? Dont fancy strapping it to the back of the rear headrest! Is there already a route through to the outside of the car for cables at the back, so i can mount the camera near the number plate?
Thanks in advance!

OOOPS DISREGARD THIS! Just realised that method I used on a saloon!! There WAS a wireless alternative, from AliExpress which I did use on the C70. I couldn’t use wired, because of the two-way movement of the boot, ie no normal hinge. The bracket and its mounting are correct though.

Sorry for wasting everyone’s time

For (2) what I did on my Volvo convertible C70 for a generic reversing camera I installed was to take the cable under the cill plate and carpet, under the back seat, into the boot. It was than taped to the hinge, routed behind the boot lid lining, and fitted between the number plate and the number plate light. I had to make a small alloy plate (held in place by the number plate) to hold the camera, but it was acceptably unobtrusive.
Sorry about the pic quality.

Alternatively, and I wish I’d thought about this before I fitted the above, was that is there a wireless alternative?

DAB does seem to be particularly susceptible to interference. When I ran the cable on my C Class estate to the rear fusebox, I changed the supplied dashcam cable for a better quality one. The screening can be a bit minimal in cheap cable. Hard wiring can also bring it's own issues in that the Switch Mode DC-DC converters used can generate their own "noise".
Trying to work out where the DAB cable runs from antenna to head unit would be helpful, so you can keep away from it as much as possible.

Apologies again. I think by trying to edit my post again, I might be guilty of corrupting the whole thread. This was not intentional, I assure you.

thanks. I'll give that some thought. It's running the cable from inside to outside that will be the issue
