Hi guys, i had a E63S 2018 late bought from Mercedes a year ago and i could not cope with the stiffness of the ride, the dealer changed the steering rack, some of the frot susp parts but it was still the same, i gave up and sold it. Even in comfort mode it still felt very stiff not like your normal cruising along Merc. I could feel every bump, I have been missing the E63s and im about to once again buy a 2020 facelift E63s, can anybody tell me if they have one and has the rode improved?? The face lift has the new grills, updated media, and the Sport dials on the steering wheel.

That sort of car with that sort of performance is never going to ride like 211 derv..... well not unless you want it to handle like a pig on stilts. Cars tend to be very comfy or very fast... not both.

So you got rid of the e63 because it wasn't comfortable but now you want another one.. ok... maybe find one local and take it for a test drive? If you want comfort surely go for a s class..

Ride won't have improved much , go S class if you want softer ride, the e63 even in comfort mode wallows , hence probably the reason it has a stiffer suspension.

If you thought a 2018 E63S was stiff, you obviously haven’t driven a C63S of similar vintage. I own the former after having the latter and I’m my honest opinion, the E feels like it’s riding on air in comparison (because it literally is).

Not driven a 2020, but as others have said, probably not the car for you if you want to waft about….

I've heard the facelift does improve the stiffness but the exhaust has an OPF 😭. The 212 rides better and has a very plush ride though the facelift S I had rides much better than the prefacelift performance pack but even that is quite plush. Did your 213 have bucket seats? Perhaps it may ride better with the sports seats rather than buckets

The 213 was criticised for its firm ride but the payoff is it was better handling at the limit than the M5 which was reportedly more comfortable.

Don't the post 68 plate cars also have the OPF fitted?
I thought all cars with a 19 plate and beyond had an OPF?
I assume a good exhaust fabricator can overcome the OPF and make the car sound like the pre19plate versions without an OPF?

I'm not really in the know but if it has a 598 on the spec sheet then I understand that is the OPF . OP states he had a 2018 previously that wouldn't have the OPF I don't think

Cars made in the latter half of 2018 have the OPF - mine does (built October ‘18), whereas the hyacinth red one I looked at on the same day was a March ‘18 build (from memory) and didn’t have them.

^ If you can get the Reg# or Vin then its worth checking if it has Option 598.
You're right if OP was looking at a 2020 then I think that will have the OPF for sure based on the above. On the E, i understand engine sounds are pumped through the cabin so hopefully it will be loud enough in any case inside the car even with an OPF, so I think the only sounds that will lack are louder pops and bangs being heard in the cabin. I remember the facelift c63s I drove at brooklands sounded fine in the cabin and only the pops and bangs were very faint

My car, according to the data sheet has a production date on Sep 18, though a 19 plate car and has the OPF, option 598. It also has U78, switchable exhaust system.
I have to listen very carefully to hear the engine and exhaust pops and bangs. Very quiet inside.

Is that in S+/Race? I get them fairly loud on mine, but that is probably because although I have OPF’s there are no rear mufflers - I also have a nice kind of ‘gurgling’ on downshifts too. Sadly, none of noises is as loud or as satisfying as those my old 2017 C63S used to make ☹️

I need to experiment more, have only had it a week and a bit. That was in “individual “ set up by the previous owner.
