If you type 'mercedes alloys' in the section 'cars, parts and vehicles' and go to page 6 you will see a super 500 se.TBH I think it will end up in the crusher. Not fair.

LOL!!

The alloys don't look that special though...

Cheers for the help with the links guys. Could this old beast be rescued?
Sometimes I think I did the wrong course at school.

I would have thought so, these old V8's are bullet proof the SEC I have had been sat four years. The only problem I had was the gearbox filter was clogged; I have only driven it to the MOT station which was about thirty miles round trip. The chap selling this one has said about tappets, chain etc. I think he's only saying that to cover himself IMO it will be fine after a good run...

You can buy decent runners for around a grand with a decent MOT and history........

The price of the 126 has just about hit rock bottom.

Thirsty and not overly cheap to fix.

This one will go for around £500.

Long MOT, and although older with more than double the miles it would be a more economical proposition - if you can call a 5 litre economical with the silly petrol prices here!

The one listed could cost over a grand just to get a ticket and running well again.

Never buy a W126 thinking its going to be a cheap project ;)

There is so much body corrosion that is an issue, followed by expensive engine components failing, eg. fuel distributor/EZLs that its only worth buying if they are mint.

I rescued a 560 SEC, and trust me it turned out to be an expensive project which i do not advise anyone else to do.

True the body corrosion is quite bad on them, I think I have been very lucky with mine. It failed the MOT it's mainly welding but considering it's only a little on 4 corners I'm happy with that and the Engine seems ok so far :)
