2017 E Class Cabrio
Hi all,

2017 E calls cab. The offside inner bootlid taillight is permanently on after the recent wet weather. I know they suffer from water ingress (very poor actually).

I've removed the taillight and cleaned up the connection both ends. I've also connected the taillight to the nearside connector and it doesn't light up suggesting a wiring issue.

Anyone have any experience/suggestions?

thanks

A bump on this.

Are there any wiring diagrams available for rear electrics I can look over? A238

cheers

Permanent light on suggests a problem with a rear SAM.
Can’t help with the location on yours, I’m afraid.
When you locate it, it could be worth checking for water ingress and dry it out with a hairdryer.

Cheers Ted, I traced the loom back through to where it connects inside the inner wing. Disconnected, dried out as suggested and reconnected. Appears to have done the trick.

What I have noticed is that the face of the inner light lens has come away from its casing, leaving a 2-3 mm gap along the top of the light. Currently drying to delicately fill it with a clear flexible silicone product. Explains why it was misted up so often.

Ah, just when I thought it was resolved, it has returned. The light itself starts very faint and stays much dimmed to when you the lights to manual. Interestingly, when you open the tailgate, it goes out.

Welcome suggestions on possible cause.

Will attach a video later once it gets dark to demonstrate.
