Hi guys
All the problems listed below are Acceleration related

1st
Problem:
When I start the engine and set off along the road and as I try to accelerate my Rev counter shoots right up to the 4 mark, and the car is not even accelerating, so I have to pull over and turn the engine off, then after about 1 minute I restart the engine and the car is driving normal and accelerating......this happens occasionally

2nd
Problem:
As i am driving around normally and go over a slight bump in the road or as i am taking a corner my Rev counter shoots right up to the 4 mark, and readjusts itself after i ease off the acceleration pedal or after approximately 5 seconds .....not sure which but this does happen frequently

3rd
Problem:
As I join the motorway slip road, and try to accelerate the Rev counter shoots right up to the 4 mark and above whilst the actual speed acceleration becomes very poor....this happens every time I initially join the motorway :(

Overall the acceleration is not as it should be for a Mercedes ML 270 cdi Auto....Any Ideas guys ????
Thanks for reading this post ;)

agree, first port of call is to have ATF level checked and condition of oil, if its black, could well be gearbox slipping, if nice and pink, could be time for fluid and filter change.

The rev counter shoots up, but do the engine revs shoot up?
If so I’d agree with the other posts! Check for leaks around the auto box sump and the electronic plug that goes into the corner of the auto box on the drivers side at the front of it (engine end). If you don’t have the auto box dipstick, I’d suggest taking it to ur local mb specialist!

Sounds like the Autobox slipping, may also be the valve box "Flaring" hence high idle..
Hi
what is the valve box and where is it located ?
what does flaring mean ?
, and how do you remedy one or the other
Thanks

Hi
the mechanic has just (2 weeks ago) changed the transmission oil/filter/plug (all three came as a kit), but.....but the new oil looks black and not pink ?...and when i checked the dip stick (whilst engine hot) the level was above the 80 degrees mark by 2 notches ?
Thanks
