Had an Adblue malfunction warning come up the other day. Didn’t use the van over the weekend because of the mileage countdown and left it for my wife to use this week as she does no miles. The warning has never come back on again and there is no warning in the messages section. Anyone else experienced this? Could it just be a sensor that was having a moment? It was a hot day Friday. Anyone know if the Vito has an issue with heat affecting sensors or am I clutching at straws?

Thanks in advance

When I used my icarsoft mb3 scanner this week ,having a play with it ,I did hit on the aD blue section ,there was 2 lines on the screen that maybe relevant here,1 was measuring ad blue tank internal temperature and also external temperature. The ad blu tank does have its own heater, probably for winter temperatures.

There are many reasons why you get the dreaded countdown though ,and none are a cheap fix . I'd recommend using an anti crystal additive with every tank of ad blue to stop any forming in the system.

Welcome.

I am guessing that the van is no longer under warranty.

If you take the van to an independent specialist with STAR, they will be able to scan the system for stored (historic) fault codes, which may give some indication as to what caused the issue.

That been said, AdBlue issues on Mercedes cars can be fiendishly difficult to diagnose, so there's no guarantee that the cause can be easily found.

Unfortunately, there's no one cause, i.e. there are quite a few things that can go wrong with the AdBlue system that will flag up this message (and, if it is ignored, it will ultimately stop the car from being driven), and so I'm afraid that you won't find the answer simply by Googling.

No warranty on the van unfortunately. 66 plate with 115 on the clock.
Just find it strange that Friday I had the warning. Every use since there has been nothing

Could be the starts of a failing Nox sensor . ?

It literally could be anything on the adblue system. Needs proper Xentry diagnosis (Star)
