Hi all,

Just got a 2004 W211 E500 with COMAND ICE fitted. Just wondering what's the best way to get bluetooth/ipod connectivity added to the system (which I really like but still working out all the functions - doing the usual man-thing of no bothering to read the war and peace sized manual!)

I think I've got the phone fit pre-wired into the central arm rest/cubby hole, and understand that I can buy a bluetooth dongle to fit this?

However, googling around threw up the Gateway 500S BT (Single FOT) which has both bluetooth and ipod connectivity - anyone got any experiance of this?

Any other suggestions welcome - I'd like to use the steering wheel controls for any set up.

Cheers,

Pete

I have the same year W211 with an NTG2 Comand. I fitted a Viseeo MBU-3000 to connect the phone and download the phone book. This uses the steering wheel controls.
I'm not up on i-pod connectivity but a call to Comandonline with your Vin# handy and they can advise all your options. They are based in Lightwater Surrey.

Have a look in the compartment where the phone fits and see if you have the curly lead and connector similar to mine below.
If you have, an MB4 you posted a link to above will not work. If you have the UHI connector, the MB4 unit will work.

Remember though that neither of these units stream music. Phone calls only.

I have a Fiscon pro For Sale in the Ads section.... Bluetooth, Music streaming etc etc

Cheers all.

AMGeed: I haven't got the phone cradle in my central armrest, only a small connector, which I believe is the UHI connector.

BaldGuy: Looks interesting, but I've got the 6 disc CD changer in the dash (only found it today, was looking in the boot , how cool is the little flap that opens up!) - looking on the website it suggests that it won't be able to stream music because of that?

UHI is not a standard feature (at least not outside UK). Now that the car has the UHI connector, the easiest way for bluetooth hands-free is a bluetooth adapter to hat UHI-connector. Either one under the MB brand (plenty available from eBay) or the ViseeO (a discontinued product!). Just make sure it is the one supporting BT HF profile as iPhone does not support BT SAP (the other adapter option).

Thanks all, looks like there's lots of options for bluetooth. What about ipod? Would like to be able to control it through the HU/steering wheel, any suggestions?

Hi I need a viseeo for that type in centre console , what ones fit that.
Mine is as .

^ You need a Viseeo MB-1000 or 3000 to work. Now unavailable apart for used ones that sometimes appear on eBay.
