Air Filter Change

I own a 2015 S class 350d Bluetech. I wish to change the air filters, so I looked on Youtube. One video suggests that once the filters are changed, the car needs to go on Star to "calibrate" the filters. I presume that the sensor that needs to be removed to remove one side of the filters, measures the vacuum in the filter box and adjusts fuelling accordingly?

I would have thought that the sensor would self calibrate once new filters had been fitted?

Thoughts please

My understanding is that if changed during service at the dealers/garage the sensor would be reset but if diy and just left it would self-calibrate over a short (~100 miles??) distance. Obviously the engine performance and economy during that time would be less than optimal.

In the 7 years I've owned the W211 E280 CDI Sports Estate, I've changed the air filters several times.
They soon appear to get very fouled with flies / dirt / whatever.
OM642 engine .... 3 litre V6.
Again - You are supposed to recalibrate on Star after the change.
I never have recalibrated.
I've never notice any adverse effect at all.
I used to wonder about it - Not any more.

No need to calibrate anything, all BS.

Agree never recalibrated on my OM642 in the 5 years I’ve had it. Never noticed any difference when driving after service.
