Alarm not sounding

Gentlemen,

Your help required.

My friend's W202 C280 has a problem with its alarm, the siren doesnt sound.

We changed the siren itself, but all that happens is the lights flash when a door is opened but still no sound.

Any other ideas?

Has it ever sounded? On many alarms you can disable the siren by using a special key on the alarm box itself. This may have been done by a previous owner if there was a problem with it going off unexpectedly.

This alarm key for my R129 is a little red bullet shaped thing.
