Hi All,

New member here and new owner of a 2017 C200 SE Executive.

Hoping someone can help with my first dilemma.
I have searched my question and some threads have come close to answering but then have faded out before conclusion.

I'm looking for a space saver spare wheel for my W205 C200 SE.
It has the standard brake calipers and the usual 17" alloys.

I could buy a 17" space saver, which will likely fit, but these are upwards of £100.

I can't help looking at the older W204 16" space savers (part # 2044000302 *ET20*) which are plentiful and cheap (downwards of £30)

Has anyone tried one on their W205 SE and are they a fit?

Cheers,
Droo.

I can't answer the question but are 16" wheels listed on the tyre sizes/pressure label inside the fuel filler cap, possibly for winter tyres?

It's a good point Tony, I'll have a look when the car is delivered on Tuesday. A quick Google search shows 16" winter wheels available for the W205 so you would think a 16" space saver would clear the caliper radially but what about side clearance. Hopefully someone is using a W204 space saver on their W205 and can definitively confirm.

No mention of any wheel size data, 16" or otherwise, on the inside of the petrol cap.

Any W205 SE owners out there using a "common all garden" 16" W204 space saver?

Hi Droo,
I have a 2017 C205 with 19” AMG wheels. I bought a space saver which I think is an 18” wheel, so one size down as you’re asking about.
I will look tomorrow to confirm and let you know.
I bought mine via eBay and thought it was about one hundred pound with jack which I threw in the bin and bought a decent one.
The web site usually tells you if the wheel fits a particular car/wheel size etc.

On my W205 wheel and tyre sizes were on the drivers door pillar.

Cheers Mate, but it might not definitively tell me if a 16" would fit. Although the calipers are smallish on my SE, the disc guard it quite large.

Cheers, I'll have a look.
Have you seen this

Thanks, Read all the way through. All great info but still unsure.

I've seen a chap a couple of streets away with a W204. Might ask if I can borrow his spare for an hour to test fit.

If you go for a smaller wheel ,you'd need to make sure the tyre size is increased to match your others rolling radius . Dropping by one inch is usually ok. Ideally try and find out the correct part number .

You may also need shorter wheel bolts for the rear .

Thanks, I think I've got that covered. The 17" space savers I see, generally have a 125mm 80 series tyre while the 16" space savers appear to usually use a 125mm 90 series tyre. The larger profile on the 16" wheel give both examples the same overall outside diameter of 25". The 17" alloys fitted to the SE have an overall outside diameter of 25.5" so all good. Either should be fine from an overall diameter perspective.
