Any idea what a B1 service is on a 2010 212 E Class?

To put it into context the car had full MBSH until Sep 2016. I bought from Maundrells in March this year and they did discs & pads. I then took it to BSG for gbox oil & plugs.

Sep 2016 @ 51k
B Service inc oil, filters, brake fluid
March 2017 @53k
Disks & pads
April 2017 @ 54k
Gearbox oil & filter, plugs

The car is now on 58k.

I guess B1 is a minor service and I need oil & filters?

ESS = Electronic Service Sheet

Our 2010 W212 cars showed as A Service last year, online they quoted somewhere around £260 which for Oil & Filter we would have went with.

They then changed the tune and said it was a B Service and would be £450.

When I pushed what all the extra cash was for it was "check this, check that".
Pointed out almost all of this would be checked for MOT anyway so an extra £200 didn't seem like good value.

Dealer wouldn't budge so that was the last visit to them.

MB service schedule is Service A then Service B, alternating.

Both services include engine oil and filter change, Service B has added checks.

Any other scheduled service items - brake fluid change, fuel filter change, ATF change, spark plugs change, etc - are also carried out if due, but they are not included in the A or B service itself, and they are quoted for separately.

Your best bet is to either get this done at an independent specialist, or alternatively take-out a Service Care Plan with MB which will reduce the cost considerably (especially for year 4 and year 5 services).

Fill the washer bottle and kick the tyres. Or it might be the other way round, I forget..

Cheers,

Gaz

I thought that an A service was for odd number years and B service was for even number years.

Mine had a B service last autumn on its 6th birthday and is due an A service soon on its 7th birthday (I wish someone spent that much on me on my birthday).

Don't think so. If I'm reading it correctly it had a B last time and now needs a "B1" whatever that is.

I'll have a quick look at the ESS this morning.

EDIT; well according to ESS you're correct in that it needs an A service. The service items listed are oil, filters and plugs. I've already changed the plugs so it's just oil & filters.

Happy days.
