anyone for a brand new viva?

That was my first car. I bought mine for £500 cleaned it updrove it for a year and sold it for £550.Mine had lovely vinyl seats that welded themselves to your legs on a hot day!

My first car was a 1971 Viva 1100, I later had a 1973 1800 which looked completely innocent but went like a rocket (for those days). I always wanted a Magnum 2300 saloon but the 1800 was as near as I got. Great Q cars.

My first car was two of them, for £120 the pair. One was an SL with a holed piston, and the other was a low-mileage L with a knackered interior.

Made the mistake of keeping them in my local pub landlord's barn while I worked on them. Big error of judgement. Lots of refreshment breaks, and very little work got done.....

Sold them to a scrappy for £250 in the end. :o

I had an ex Post Office Bedford HA van which was a Viva underneath, bought from my uncle who was the Post Office garage foreman - dodgy, nah don't think so. It was red and I looked like Postman Pat so I sold it for an Escort.
The gearbox was like a riflebolt as I remember, even more so than the Mk1 escort.

Dare I say it, but I quite like this beige Viva. Although, I have a feeling, I might be told that its definately an old man's car.

I remember my Dad used to have one back in '73. But it was the Viva GT! Looked a lot like this one in this photo, but it was red with black striping.

I thought it was great, at the time.......

Very nice. Bit like that Cortina that was in a dealer a few months ago. How many more of these 'new' cars are out there?

NOt that many. I liked the 300CE that was in Mercedes Enthusiast last month for £13000 with one owner and 3000 miles! Looked fab!

I bought a Viva HB SL90 backin 1976, didnt keep it long because it was permantly misfiring (which some time after I found out was due to excessive play in the distributor spindle).I sold that and bought my first (of 3) Triumph 2000 MK2's, which was a superb car, powerful, comfortable and had wonderful reclining seats. Fate works in mysterious ways.

I used to own a Bedford Beagle Van (HA). Went all over Europe in it. I have very fond memories of that van. It wasnt pretty, it wasnt comfy but did I have fun.:bannana: :bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

For what it is it is a very tidy car and probably worth the money.

My third car (unfortunately within six weeks of the first car) was a black one of these.
It was Ok but just couldn't stand the punishment metered out to it, I did about 12K in about three months and blew the engine and gearbox so called it a day.

I had a 1976 Magnum 1800 which was slightly uprated with cam and 2300 twin carbs.
It went very well and was very tough.

Sounds good. My 1800 had a Weber carb on it (fitted by the previous owner), don't know how much that helped the performance.
