Anyone successfully repair a w211 shifter mechanism?

Got the dreaded Shifter mechanism/module fault since the weekend. Replaced brake light switched and no improvement.
Currently intermittent, but usually won't allow car to start, or in some cases will not allow N to P unless I lift off brake pedal.
With some quick googling, it seems the solder contacts on the electrics wear out causing the faults ....question being rather than pick up one thats a ticking time bomb from breakers, at £165 delivered, could this be repaired? Was thinking any good mobile phone repair shop might entertain some micro soldering?

I got a used one for £50 on eBay, took about 30 mins to swap, centre console out (just a few bolts) and then can be replaced quite easily.

Appreciate that mate, mine is the facelift car so the appropriate part numbers seem to be rare enough. I've 3 according to EPC, but ebay prices starting at £180
