Auto wipers on E220

I have a 2006 C220 CDI

I notice in the window there are 2 sensor lenses. One for the lights but is the other for auto wiper?

if it is it don’t work.

My mates E Class has a setting on the control stalk for this but mine is normal.

should it be working ?

Start the engine , twist the wiper control one click to intermittent, shut the drivers door and spray water on the screen with a hose
Does that work ?

Thanks I will try it but I have been through car wash and nothing happens. It has intermittent that works.
