Just recently, I got a check engine light on my dash with the code P0491. A quick google search told me it had something to do with the secondary air injection system so I checked the air pump and it seems to be running fine (no strange noises). What I'd like to understand is what triggered the engine light to pop up and what are the most common causes of this problem. Can there be an air leak somewhere in the hose that connects to the air pump? Maybe there's a check valve that might be jammed? Not sure...
