Anyone out there own a B200 with windows that have a mind of their own? When using the oneshot facility, the window goes up to about 2/3rds, stops, then goes back down to 1/2! The car has been back to the dealer three times now to get it resolved and the last time they said that it was a known problem but no fix . Not sure where to go from here...

I am about to ask the dealer the same question ... have this on mine too - its intermittent, but very annoying !!!!! Only way to deal with it is not to use the one-shot facility (it seems) and just to hold the button until window is fully up ... very very annoying ! Developed after a few months .. I'm thinkiing its an over-sensitive sensor problem that seems to be detecting that something is stopping the window from closing, and therefore retracting it ... to say that its a known problem but no fix though, is simply not acceptable .. so they had better not come out with that line when I eventually take it in to them !

Sorry to hear of all your other woes in the other thread !

Us too. Thought it might be a feature designed to get you to go back to the Dealer while he patiently explains that you are rather stupid. Kept saying I must read the Handbook.

yes , its detecting something stopping the window going up. IF i was to guess , the runners or the rubbers need to be loobed or something.

Im not the only one!

Thanks for the reply - let me know how you get on when you take it in. If they have a fix, would be grateful if you could let me know :)

same prob here, on our A class. Well, it stops, at least. Dealer hopeless: said that the A class didn't have one-shot on the driver's door; sigh. Funny how it worked before, then, and still works occasionally.

This happens on the front doors only ... driver and passenger windows only have the same (intermittent) fault ...... Fuzzer .. good idea - will try lubeing the rubbers, this might be the issue, as the front (and driver in particular) windows are the main ones that are used - so they may be needing some attention ... but its a really strange one !

So, I just have an A Class as a courtesy car, 1000 kms on the clock and guess what, the window does the same.

You can take out the window inserts and the door trim and work back the surface ever so slightly till it is somwhat more shiny.

Much the same way window tinters (the better ones) make a tolerance for window film.

There is no diagnostic setting for increased window power inside the module to make the sensor less reactive. So in that sense there is nothing a workshop can do.

I wonder if that horrible dashboard sealant "Amour All" (silicon content ?) could be used on this type of rubber. That stuff crosslinks the surface of rubber. Synthetic rubber has a degree of powder in it which is what lubricates the window at first but as it is depleted the surface of the rubber opens up slightly and creates a microscopic but larger surface area which can bind with the glass by making tiny pockets which act like suction cups.

Thanks for that Miro ... I won't bother asking them to try and diagnose it then ... will just cause them much confusion ! I have some 'armourall' spray though ... will give it a try .. can't hurt !

My A Class drivers side window is just the same. It started to stop (!) about a quarter way up its travel initially but as time is going by the stop point is becoming further up the windows travel. So now it stops itself about two inches from its final position and soon it should close properly without having to hold the button.

I've known all along what the scientific problem was but Miro hit the nail right on the head, I could never have communicated that well though.

Portzy.
