I use the iPlayer a lot for radio, and until the last few weeks it's been faultless. Now however it's a real PITA, sometimes working sometimes not.

Trying to contact Aunty about it is equally bad.

Anyone else been having problems? I've tried their iPlayer Forum, that was closed years ago!!

I use mine for the same, and it was out of action for a few days. I did read about the problems, but it seems to be working fine now.

I'm not even getting "wrong" programmes, I'm getting zip nada niente :(

I've been having intermitted problems for a few weeks now. Sometime it works, and sometimes, like now zip.

Are you Mac? I'm wondering if it might be a specific to Mac problem. I've tried contacting them, but that's another horror :(

ETA: Even this http://www.bbc.co.uk/ isn't working properly!

Seems fine to me (Windows 7 laptop). I just clicked through the various links and listened to The Archers omnibus!

And I just missed it :(

iPad (without the update that changes the screen appearance.)

I've tried two different machines iPad and iPhone, zip.

I'm wondering if it might be a regional thing. I'm east mids, iirc there was a BT(?) server problem a few weeks ago that had regional implications.

Can't think what else it might be. Everything else is fine.

Now working; it'll probably die again at three o'clock :(

It may be related to this BBC - Blogs - Internet blog - New version of radio homepage launched
The BBC in their wisdom have provided a new portal for their radio programmes -- I think to make it more available on various media streaming devices other than straight WINDOWS computers. The result being every time some new device with a new/modified operating system hits the market they have to fiddle  with the system to make it work ---- with predictable results. :fail Blame the gearhead/ early adopter /beta users who insist their poorly developed / early to market "shiny " product must immediately do everything and more the last one did.

I've always found iPlayer to be temperamental for viewing TV, of which I watch very little these days. Changing from normal to full screen can be enough to make the thing freeze.

My biggest annoyance is with the Radio 4 website which isn't good in its design. Main menu text scrolling downwards (I don't really want to tilt my head to read it) and the Afternoon Drama section has been hopeless for some time now, especially the "available now" sections.

Yup...I sometimes think people just fiddle with things just to justify their existence. Previous set up was better; new set up was just dropped on us one day and it's a PITA.

Aside from the technical stuff...it's been sad watching the steady decline of the afternoon drama offerings. And the time slots are getting shorter. The best drama's on R3 these days.

A friend of mine sweated for years to finally get something accepted by R4. That was 1977. I find it difficult to see any sweat at all in some of the guff broadcast these days under the false flag of drama.

Right then, this is getting weird.

If I try and access the site normally, zip. If however I then access it on VPN, bingo.

If i then leave the VPN, leaving the connection, it still works, but if I try accessing again, whilst the non VPN link is still running, again zip.

As I said weird :dk:

Sounds as if they are flagging you up as attempting access from outwith the UK. Try switching off your modem wait a few minutes and then reboot to establish a new server link to your ISP.

I'll try that later, I'm not switching it off now while it's working !
