Brake hold doesn't like a particular hill

There's a junction that I drive through once a week or so and it's got a decent gradient, maybe 15 degrees or so as a rough estimate. It's quite a busy 4 way junction and most times I get caught at a red light there and I'll be facing up the hill at the time. For some reason the auto-hold/brake kick down function (or whatever the correct name is!) usually takes several stabs on the brake pedal to get it to work, can anyone suggest why that might be?

Might be your auxiliary battery starting to fail if your car has one or the main battery getting tired. If you can't check them yourself a trip to Halfords might be your best bet.

Do you have large feet? It might just be that as you stab at the brake pedal, you're getting a very slight touch on the throttle pedal, which will stop the hold engaging. Don't ask how I know...

I don't think that is the case as I replaced the main battery in June 22 and the car has only done just over 5,000 miles since then, also the stop/start works fine.

I do have quite big feet 😄 however it is definitely not that as this would be happening at places other than that particular spot.
