Hi all

The button to release the boot from the outside no longer seems to be working. I can use the key and interior button perfectly fine.

I've had a look but couldn't figure it out. I also noticed that one lightbulb is out, not sure if coincidence. Im not getting anything from a meter either when testing.

Any ideas??

Cheers

I had the same with my old Insignia on the boot close button on the tail gate (it was an estate). All other buttons worked (key, driver's door, external open). Turned out to be a duff switch, most likely caused by water/moisture ingress. A new £7 switch and I replaced myself. Had to take the rear carpeted panel of the inside of the boot, but no more than 30 minutes for that car taking it slowly.

If the part is cheap (try MB Grangemouth) and you fancy having a go, I suspect it's cheap enough for you to give it a try and not worry if it doesn't fix it.

Also, worth a check in the spare wheel well to make sure you don't have any leak into the car.

On an e-coupe it’s far more likely to be a couple of broken wires near the boot hinge, I have never had to change a switch on one but done many a wiring repair.
If you are confident have a go it’s on the right hand side, but an auto electrician wouldn’t charge a lot to have a look and make a good lasting repair if it needs it.

Frustratingly I’ve just had the boot wires repaired (a few broken/chafed around hinge) and my rear boot button now doesn’t work!
