Last couple of MOT advisories have mentioned of rusty road springs can these be treated in situ?

If you mean painted then yes, I did this to mine. They broke a few months later. If they’re like other Mercs I am familiar with, it’s easy and cheap enough to change them. Jack the car up, support the control arm on a jack, undo some bolts, lower the arm and lift out the springs. Reassemble - a couple of hours work.

Oh dear sorry that don't sound good ☹️ when the weather gets warmer I will have to pressure wash the rear end and probably spray treat the cleaned area in waxoyl. Keeping 🤞 springs don't break the following week.
