Advice and help please.
New to Mercedes, bought first one, 6 months ago, done 4k miles, started to play up past month, difficult to start.
Travelled to Wartford Tuesday, 170 miles ran no issues, failed to start, checked fuel was getting to injectors and no air lock, then I used the call out, he arrived checked for coded there was none and used easy start to get it runnung, ran home no issues. Call out said no errors (mil) and never seen any errors since I bought the car, and still no errors today (mil). Fails to start since, not done the easy start exercise yet, but need to get my head in place to start fixing this problem, as it now a hard fault hopefully with the right tools and a bit of effort I can get to the bottom of it. I am ok hands on but tend to be petrol rather than diesel knowledge wise.
First is to buy a icarsoft mb v2.0, will this find alarms not provided by a normal ODB2 reader as it is MB specific?
Second get a leak down kit
I am thinking it will probably be an injector issue, car has 140k miles on clock, looks like previous owner has had black death on one injector as its different from rest. However there is no sign of black death today. if I find a faulty injector my thinking is remove and get it reconditioned if possible.

Any feedback or advice gratefully received.

Again, 90% probability for low fuel rail pressure. It does not leave fault code, if it is starting problem only. Problem is usually caused by air entering into fuel lines, or injectors leaking. Rarely hp pump.

BTW, do you have about half tak fuel? Could be too 'saddle tank syndrome'

Sold mine last month as wasn't using it much but a couple of times it took a bit of turning over if left facing uphill and fuel level was low. Seems standard practice to change the fuel line seals but never did it on mine.

Thx for advice, already changed the filter to low pressure pump fuel line with new mercedes part, and replaced o rings, More than half tank of fuel, on level ground.
Injectors leaking is it the best way of checking by doing the leak back test or is there any other method to determine? does the icarsoft feed back any information by doing tests on injectors or fuel flow?

I remember on mine a few years ago I had to strip my high pressure pump and put new seals in, was a pain to do due to small parts but fixed the issue.

Not made any progress, until today when a new icarsoft CR Pro arrived (because across the family we all drive different manufacturers), could not wait, plugged it in.
From the Mercedes window error message was
P0100-001 State Currant B2/5 (hot film MAF sensor) the signal voltage is too low
It is a hard fault clear it reappears immediatly.
From the ODB2 window slightly different
P0102
Mass or Volume airflow sensor A circuit low

Is this bite the bullet and buy a new MAF and hope that is it? or is there something else I should do?

If there was anything wrong fuel side injector, pump, fuel rail no actual codes would be presented because the fuel system is dumb?

MAF does not prevent starting, sorry. DId you check live value of raiil pressure during cranking? No fuel pressure codes because it is NOT monitored during cranking, like I said above, If car starts and then dies for fuel starvation, code triggers.

So you didn't measure injector tank leaks either? You need no diagnostics there, just few meters of plastic hose and hose clamp thongs.

There were two engine weren't there, depending on vintage? Om612 and om647. Om612 had the mechanical low pressure pump and om647 an electric in tank one I understand.
The mechanical LP pumps on the om612 pull fuel from the tank, so can suffer with air leaks.
I don't see anything here or in profile to see what engine it is.
