C43 AMG
hi guys
I currently am wanting too change my cla45 amg which I've had 4yrs and been a great car
my dilema is my budget can go for the following
2017 c43 amg 70k
2018/19 c300 2.0 petrol amg line premium plus 18k on clock
2018/19 c300d premium plus 18k on clock
they pretty much all look the same apart from the c43 amg with awd and obvious engine
which do I go for ?
oh brilliant blue is the colour am set on
TIA

Go for the diesel, someone has to.... :dk:

Start with being absolutely clear to yourself why you want to change your CLA45.

Then be absolutely clear to yourself what you want from any replacement, e.g. more room, different body style, improved fuel economy, etc.

The replacements you seem to have in mind (with the possible exception of the C43) are all very different to what you have now, so it's impossible for anyone else to second-guess what you would be happiest with.

I get what your saying yea ,I love the shape of the coupe so set on that ,just would of liked any input from any of the mentioned models ,owned a 330d msport( tuned,) which was a cracking car and tbh the m3 version didn't really seem worth it compared ,just wondered if mercs were similar

Go for tHe C43.

It also responds well with a tune to 420bhp and 640nm of torque.

Personal opinion: I would steer clear of any modern EU6 engine with AdBlue after treatment. The engineers at MB were bending over backwards to make the BlueTEC Diesel engines meet EU6 emissions standards, resulting in complex peripheral systems that often go wrong and are very expensive to repair. I would go for Petrol, Hybrid, or EV. Again, personal opinion.

Depending on the car's model, MB current 2.0L petrol engines will be either the older M274/M270 (introduced 2011), or the newer M264/M260 (introduced 2017).

I had a W204 with the 1.6L variant of the older M274 engine, and it proved very reliable during the 5 years that I had the car.

I've got a 2020 C300 with the M264 engine and like it a lot. Initially it was a bit of a disappointment after the monster 3.0 straight six turbo on my M140i, but over time I've come to appreciate it. It maybe sounds a bit weedy at low revs but after that it picks up and gets a hard-edged snarl - sounds really good for a 4 pot. It pulls really well, and is easily quick enough any situation on the road.

It would have been nice to have exhaust pops in sport+ mode, but that's arguably not in keeping with the car. It's more of a GT/tourer type coupe. I've done 6 hours in a day a few times in it and it's very comfortable (not something that can be said of the M140i haha). However, find a good road and it's still lots of fun to drive.

My choices when buying a year ago were a 2017 C43 with 50k on the clock or this 2020 C300 with 7k on the clock and much better interior with digital dash, Android Auto and CarPlay etc. For once I went with the slower car but don't regret it. Still wouldn't mind a C43 one day though!
