CAN BUS HELP!!!!!!! (andyg)

Hi i have bought a SL320 01 model, and have been having no end of problems with it. The car starts sometimes and others it doesnt.
I have had it on the MB Star and came up with CAN faults 132 133 134 and 135.
Is there anyone out there that can help i have had it for 2 months now and drove it for 2 weeks on and off. It seems to happens when ive washed it when its frozen over and ahen its raining it might be coincidence but i have found some green stuff on the drivers wing mirror...

sorry about your woes - where about are you based?

did you have a read of what star bought back? it should have gave you the name of the faulty componants aswell as the numbers?

Hi mobeyone,
Im in coventry the read out gave a list of faults and were the main ones showing were CAN Communication faults there was the four can faults shown above i havnt got them with me but will have a look later and post on here.
It is something electrical which is causing the faults but to me its like a needle in a haystack sutuation. I was at one point tepmted to take to MB!!!(shows my desparation).

Might be a sam unit? if the car is having trouble storing data then it maybe that one of the sam units is faulty and needs replacing?

I had an issue with my c320 and numerous can faults were stored and this eventually traced to the rear sam.

List the faults to confirm.

would this happen intermittently as on some days it is fine and will drive as it should. Before i changed the ignition switch it used to go into limp home and then not start. Now it just wont turn over, but give it a day or so and it starts again???? the faults shown before battery was changed were

not sure to be honest - i was told once that the sam unit will reset itself which would allow you to drive as normal until the problems begin again. Then once the car started to record the faults it would then possibly store them until it could not cope and then put the car into limp mode.

Did you net get a list of what each ault represented? I know i would get communication errors which would have been linked to say esp or steering wheel angle sensors etc.
