C220 CDI
Exhaust fumes smell worse than most. No smoke on start up but woman followed me one night an reported black smoke (I assumed when I booted it as its not constant) could it be anything to do with dpf or cat? Cars a w203 (?) 53 plare c220 cdi coupe.

TIA

I doubt you have DPF on a 53 plate and most diesels smoke on acceleration especially if they have been tottling around for a bit.

Just give it a long run on the motorway with premium diesel fuel or normal diesel fuel with injector cleaner additive. If that clears your smoke problem then it will be a cheap fix but if not then.it's something more technical.

I do wonder sometimes... these diesel engines like to be treated harshly time to time...especially when they are used for town driving most of the time.

1 injector failing?

Had this problem with mine, gradually gets worse until the rail pressure gets too low when you boot it.

Seems to drive alright although its my 1st diesel and 1st auto. Sick of the auto box now tho after 6 months of ownership. Will try giving it a blast sometime as its only 11 mile trip to work. I need time or should I say I need my mates time to look it over properly :-/ thanks for the replies

Standard . sisters c220 cdi same deal. l grab it off her and head to a freeway 3000 rpm 2nd or 3 rd gear should clean it up. Works all the time. the car spends all it:s life in traffic.
