Centre console features

Guys

I'm looking at buying my first MB its a 2006 E320 sport.

however I want to make sure I know what every feature does before I go and view the car.

Can anyone tell me what the black item is in the circled area, i believe its between the transmission selector and the cup holder.

The blanked buttons would have been for Airmatic, nice option, I wouldn't have a Mercedes without some sort of air suspension now.
