Child lock button not working - any easy fix?

Did you manage to fix this? I've got exactly the same problem on my w205 estate.

Is it one window, or both rear windows?

good question, don't know. I'll just go and check.
I've just checked. The light won't switch off which means that the child lock is always on. Both windows open from the driver's controls.

If I'm not mistaken, this isn't actually a 'child lock' as such, on my car it prevents all windows from being operated locally by the passengers.

If this is the case, then when the lights is on, none of the windows should work, unless operated from the driver's door - is this what's happening?

The driver door switch pack are a very common problem on the w205 and w213 cars. They are currently on back order. I have 5 on order myself. My local dealer told me there are 127 on order with them at the moment

That's exactly the case. The trouble is I cannot de-activate this and the light is always on. It's funny because it did work for the first couple of days I had the car but is always on.

How long ago did you buy the car? Did you buy if from a trader? If so then take it to the seller to be repaired under warranty.

Thanks Markjay. That's exactly what I'm going to do on Wednesday this coming week. The start/stop function is also not working and they've already agreed to put that right. One other minor thing is that the screen wash jets front and rear are both clogged up. Any idea how to get them unclogged?
Oh and I bought it 2 weeks ago on Monday. It's better than I ever hoped for the £12k I spent on it.

The screen wash pump often gets its intake filter blocked with gunk. The one pump on the estate serves both front and rear screens. If both screens have a poor flow it’s likely to be the intake filter to the pump that needs cleaning. There is some evidence that mixing different brands of screen wash additive to the MB branded stuff causes a reaction resulting in a gloopy mess that blocks the filter. I use Prestone from Tescos or Tool Station. It comes as concentrated or pre-mixed. I always top up with the concentrated in the autumn/ winter as the car lives outside. The pipework, jets and washer tank are electrically heated so with a “strong” mix the screen wash works perfectly in the winter.

As your dealer to look at the blockage as you should still have warranty cover. The details below are what needs to be done.
The pump lives low down behind the passenger front wheel lining. The washer bottle is a complex moulding and it is not possible to flush the bottle out from the top. To do the job takes about 20 minutes and does not need the front wheel to be removed or the car jacked up.
1) Turn the steering to full right lock.
2) Turn off engine
3) locate two 10mm nuts holding rear section of wheel arch lining and remove
4) locate plastic fastener with plastic plug in its centre that is near the base of the liner then using a flat blade prize the centre plug out from the fastener then pull it and the plug out using pliers
5) locate the pump at the bottom of the washer bottle, using a large screwdriver blade or something similar gently prize the pump upwards whilst pulling the pump away from the bottle. At this stage all the water in the bottle will pour out.
6) There should be a black rubber fitting at the base of the pump if not it’s still in the bottle and needs removing. If it was still in the bottle and is blocked the water will now rush out.
7) Add tap water to the bottle to wash it out
8) Carefully clean the black filter then put it onto the base of pump
9) Put the pump and the rubber filter back into the bottle and confirm it’s not leaking by adding a small amount of water to the bottle. If the pump or rubber is not correctly seated it will leak so remove and refit.
10) Test that the pump by washing the screen, it may need to run for a few seconds to fill the tubing.
11) Replace the wheel arch liner, the two nuts and the lower plastic bung. To replace the bung ensure the centre pin is pulled outwards only pushing it in fully once the bung is in place to lock the bung
12) Top up washer bottle with water and screen wash mix
13) Get a good wash as the job was a bit mucky and reflect that your 20 minutes work have saved you £125 which is what MB dealers charge for this job.

I had a problem with the driver for window buttons not working. I had let my drivers window down to use a ticket machine at a car park. The window went down but refused to go up and in the rain this was not funny. After driving as while and getting wet I remembered the “tunnel airflow” setting on the climate control. Press and hold the recycle button, the sunroof and any open windows close along with changing the intake flaps. A quick press turns recycle off and on, a press and hold closes any open glass and once your through the tunnel press and hold and any opened glass that the system closed hopes back to its opened position.

My button broke out of warranty, MB only offer a complete switch unit so I purchased a copy button from China via EBay prized the old button off and clicked in a new one. Problem fixed now for over 4 years and cost me less than a pint of beer.

Wow... thanks for the brilliant detailed reply. I'm going to ask them to do all three things that need doing (stop/start, window lock and this) together. The car I'm still convinced was a stonking good deal (12k) but it is annoying that they didn't check things like this and of course I'm annoyed with the buyer (me!) who didn't think to check basic things like this but was instantly falling for the shiny blue beauty!

Hope you get all three sorted. At 12K you get a lot of car and unlike brand new will not take a big hit on the price.
Dealers workshops don’t always fully check things as they should and do miss items many moons ago my wife took her one year old Clio in for a service and on collection she was informed that a free health and safety check had been carried out and all was finished drove the 3/4 mile home. When she got home I was called as the car seemed to be smelling very hot. I opened the bonnet and discovered that the radiator cap was sitting on the side of the engine and not on the rad! Good job we live near the garage would hate to think of the damage if she had to travel several miles via A fast dual carriage way.
