Chrome OS Flex

We installed hundreds of copies of the Neverwhere version (the name before Google purchased it) across schools in the UK to repurpose old PCs - I was the IT Director for a Education Trust that was the largest Google Apps user (60K plus accounts) in Europe for a while. Cost effective, secure and easier to manage than M$ Windoze. If you are mostly using a browser (and who isn't?) for access to applications then it makes complete sense. The Google ecosystem is well thought out and blends well across other google based devices - phones, tablets etc. Google Workspace is a good product, simple to use, has a consistent user experience across all the apps and not bogged down with the baggage that M$ Office is saddled with. I have recommended quite a few friends to move to ChromeBooks and not one has comeback and regretted the decision - what they all like is if they are not sure how to do something then they simply Google it and 9 times out of 10 there is a Google support page explaining how to do it. No more antivirus programs, no malware issues, cloud storage and you access your data from any machine that you can log into your account through the Chrome browser. Chrome doesn't have 70% of the market for browsers for nothing. Even Micro$oft Edge is based on Chromium - the open source version of Chrome, says it all really.

As a lifelong IT professional (49 years) I can honestly say Micro$oft has lost its way, is wedded to its traditional (think cost cow) application model and has tried to add 'cloud features' to a legacy toolset creating an awful mess of inconsistency and unreliability that needs ever increasing amounts of compute power to run. Then think how vulnerable you are to viruses, malware etc.
