Hi all,

I have had my CLA for a while now and I am looking to upgrade the performance of it.
I have been driving 330d & 335d for a number of years now and while I am aware I won't be able to get the CLA220D up to that level of power, I am just looking to give it a good boost, however, I am unsure where to start. All advice welcome!

Hi mate,

I am new here too and trying to ask the same question for my GLA 220D. I've gone from a heavily tuned RX8 so coming down in power but up comfort for sure haha.

I am booked in to take my card to DMS Automotive for a remap. They have branches all over, but I am going to the Southampton HQ on June 1st.

The map is around £650 but DMS are highly regarded by quite a few people I know and they offer a free 3 year service to remove and replace the map wherever you are, for whenever the car is going in for visits where they may be doing warranty checks or services.

I will send through an update once I have had the map for the overall performance difference and how it drives afterwards.

If you find any other performance upgrades, let me know! I think most things between our cars are transferable.

When the original stock map is reapplied the key on/off count
( too few ) won't tally , dead giveaway .

Oh I've never heard of the key on/off count. Is that a check Mercedes do with warranties?

I will ask DMS and see what they say.

Have you found any other possible upgrades for performance yet?

Take the trip to MSL, you won’t be disappointed.

I have been emailing someone from there, have you been there and had yours done? do you a recommendation as to what to have done from there? I was looking at a stage 1 remap and the Dyno? Thanks

Not remapped mine but I’ve been there for repair work, great bunch of guys very knowleadgable. I could lose count of how many owners I know that have had performance work done there

I spoke with Andrew at MSL.

The eurocharged map is the best option and comes in at £550 with the dyno. But same as DMS needing to remove the map before any service or warranty check.

I thunk both are good options and will get similar results, I think i might prefer DMS purely because its their map rather than an authorised garage doing the Eurocharged map from america.

But in all honesty i think its 50/50 with which is best.

Ill update you guys next week when i get mine mapped

Does the eurocharged handheld not come compatible for your car? Can load/remove maps any time you please with a handheld

They also do custom maps rather than just off the shelf, although Eurocharged maps are a very good standard in the world of MB

Owned my S205 C220cdi for just under two years, after previously owning C320cdi, C350cdi and E350cdi was impressed with the C220cdi overall but it was not on par with the bigger engined cars I had before.

Couple of months ago I was about to change the car as it felt a little underpowered and was getting boring, but after talking to friend decided to try a remap first as he had a deal with a tuner so I took the plunge and had my 220 remapped from standard 170bhp 400Nm to 220bhp 500Nm.

As a result the car is far more drivable and has much better response in the low rev range, it has not made it snappy just more fun to drive and feel much smoother.
Upto 40mph is where I can feel the biggest improvement and it’s how I think the car should be standard having experienced it now, as I often felt it was little hesitant when hitting the pedal with what I say felt like a delay at times.
But now it’s far more responsive when I hit the pedal and it pulls so much more enthusiastically and puts a smile on my face, but if I am gentle with the throttle it feels much smoother.

Had my car remapped over the weekend by DMS.

Managed to go from around 178bhp to 226bhp and around 350 torque. The car is far more driveable, smoother and I can definitely feel the power increase and the acceleration is much much better

Managed to keep around the same MPG and even up to 42mpg on the motorway (I'm not the most gentle on the accelerator)

I highly recommend the guys at DMS. They give you 3 years cover and will come to you if needed. They also offer to remove/re-add the map if the car is going in for any warranty checks or if the map is overwritten for any reason.
