CLK 500 - when hot it either won't start or cuts out and won't start, changed crank sensor but not made any difference. Told the sensor is contaminated when removed. Its a 54 plate 7 speed. Can anyone help with the answer?
Crank sensor is the favourite culprit. Did you get a new one from main dealer or an aftermarket one?
Classic symptoms failing to hot start but will when cooled down.
Awkward to DIY, it's around a £200 job at an indy to supply and fit on an M113 engine.
If you have replaced a crank sensor once with OE and its not cured the fault, time to take it to a Mercedes specialist IMO.
If an M113 is messing around hot starting and a crank sensor hasn't sorted it, then either the new part is also faulty, or I'd be looking at the MAF sensor. Quite notorious for causing fueling wobbles and running issues.
