Morning all
I have a 2010 CLS Grand Edition and I’m confused about the lighting. According to the data card I have two options -
616 BI-XENON HEADLICHT W.ACTVIE CURVELIGHT LEFT-DRIVE
619 CORNERING ILLUMINATION

The fog lights illuminate as I turn but my friend who also had a CLS says there should be movement from the headlights as I drive through bends etc. Thing is there’s no movement as far as I can tell.

So, could someone explain how these are meant to work and how I can test them?

Thanks

The headlight movement is probably quite subtle, and you'd struggle to notice it.

I have the same on my CLK, and whilst I've definitely noticed the cornering illumination at work, I don't think I've registered the headlights adjusting through bends.

I thought that would be the case but I took my friend out and he’s convinced the difference he saw in his was quite noticeable whereas neither of us could see anything in mine even though we were specifically looking for it.

I’m probably over thinking things but I’m sure I read somewhere that it could be deactivated but don’t really want to pay to put it on Star to find out!

On my 2017 model CLS I have “Intelligent Lighting” and you can certainly see the corners and kerbs being lit up when cornering.

The lights don’t actually move there are separate lenses pointed to each side which illuminate as the wheel is turned.
I have to say the CLS lights are the best I’ve ever experienced in a car.

On older models, like ours, there's no intelligent lighting. - It uses the fog lamps for the cornering illumination (which works well enough when you need to parallel park at night)

I thought the 619 CORNERING ILLUMINATION was the fog light bit but the 616 BI-XENON HEADLICHT W.ACTVIE CURVELIGHT LEFT-DRIVE was the bit where the lights move with the corner?

I agree Merc220cls though - they’re the best lights I’ve had on a car
