So finally got around to taking the car up to MSL/Torqueflow on Saturday for the team there to work their magic.
I opted to leave the resonater in place but even given this the car is pretty loud!
When I went out on Sunday morning and started from cold the neighbours were having a minor row, I think it pretty much silenced them when I turned the key. :D
Very pleased on the drive back from Birmingham, power curve is so smooth and you really can hear the turbos spool up just as Imran promised.
Sounds fantastic particularly on downshifts in Sport Plus mode.
Also felt like some of the slight hesitancy I'd experienced lower down in the rev range has been eliminated.

So all good but I'm left with something of a dilemma.
Acid explained that due to there being an older version of software on my ECU it was not possible to achieve the slightly higher figures attained by some of the other CLS63's that they've mapped.
He has kindly offered to carry out another map and dyno after the ECU software has been upgraded, however I need to get MB to do the latter.
I phoned them yesterday to enquire about this and was surprised at their reluctance to do the upgrade. I was told that it isn't done as a matter of course during say a major service and that it was only normally carried out when it was known to fix a specific fault.
However they will do it if I insist but quote ''won't be held responsible if it introduces a fault''
Of course here's the rub; It will introduce a fault as the map put on at the weekend will be wiped and I'll get a check engine light due to the decat...

So I find myself in a quandry as to what is best to do.
It's a 200 mile round trip to MSL for me.
Should I be content with what I have which is pretty damn good or chase the bit of extra power?

PersonLly I don't think it's worth it for the extra 50hp, it's gonna be quicker than most things on the road.

I work 30 mins from MSL I would have met up but currently on holiday in Mexico.

See? I still check the forum even when on my hols!:o

Just watched the vid it finally loaded as wifi is shyte here and I see you get the puffs of blue smoke on the overrun just like mine. Do the C63's do this too after the decat/res del/map?

I get the blue smoke on my e63 it looks like it could be the norm with a full exhaust system

You could be losing out on upto 60-70hp and upto 100ft-lb there! That's a lot

I'd say it's worth chasing more power but not straight away. That amount of power and torque is still enough to obliterate 99.9% of things road. I'd personally enjoy the power until your next service is due and then have the map adjusted as it'll feel like you're having an extra 'stage' on the car without needing to upgrade turbos etc etc.

Love Mexico!
Which part are you staying in?

I'm quicker than anything I've come across so far ;)

This is very much at the forefront of my thinking...
The torque figure is perhaps what will sway me in the end as the huge gain from the existing map over stock has transformed the car.

This is probably just about the ideal solution although my next service is some way off and I'd be stretching Acid's offer to remap FOC a little.

I'm sure Acid will offer a rain cheque for when you're done. Top bloke and company.

I never came across anything quicker than my 600BHP W211 E55 (apart from a Lamborghini Aventador but he went the other direction round a roundabout so that defeat was avoided by me.

However, I'd still want the extra but I would agree with the "no rush" and just sort it in due course.

It will be like a little bonus when you get there.
