So finally got around to taking the car up to MSL/Torqueflow on Saturday for the team there to work their magic.
I opted to leave the resonater in place but even given this the car is pretty loud!
When I went out on Sunday morning and started from cold the neighbours were having a minor row, I think it pretty much silenced them when I turned the key.
Very pleased on the drive back from Birmingham, power curve is so smooth and you really can hear the turbos spool up just as Imran promised.
Sounds fantastic particularly on downshifts in Sport Plus mode.
Also felt like some of the slight hesitancy I'd experienced lower down in the rev range has been eliminated.
So all good but I'm left with something of a dilemma.
Acid explained that due to there being an older version of software on my ECU it was not possible to achieve the slightly higher figures attained by some of the other CLS63's that they've mapped.
He has kindly offered to carry out another map and dyno after the ECU software has been upgraded, however I need to get MB to do the latter.
I phoned them yesterday to enquire about this and was surprised at their reluctance to do the upgrade. I was told that it isn't done as a matter of course during say a major service and that it was only normally carried out when it was known to fix a specific fault.
However they will do it if I insist but quote ''won't be held responsible if it introduces a fault''
Of course here's the rub; It will introduce a fault as the map put on at the weekend will be wiped and I'll get a check engine light due to the decat...
So I find myself in a quandry as to what is best to do.
It's a 200 mile round trip to MSL for me.
Should I be content with what I have which is pretty damn good or chase the bit of extra power?
