CLS63

Hasn’t this car been advertised for sale at Optimum very recently? Like within the last five months. Now suddenly it is being advertised again - could it be problematic? Either way the spec is fabulous as most are silver or black.

I frequently follow C219 cls63s on auto trader, but unfortunately the tax would be £9700 for me to buy one 😢

Pound to a penny it's the same car.

Where would the road tax be £9700? Surely not in the Maldives; there's barely room to swing a cat on Malé, let alone anywhere else...

No I live in Jersey and we have to pay VED to import a car based on CO2 emissions. And for a car with over 200g/km it’s £9700 and every year this seems to be going up! Ideally when looking to buy my car (S211) I would have bought one in the uk (more options and slightly cheaper) but the tax would have doubled or triples the cost of the car.

I'm in Jersey too (drive a CL63 - currently for sale) - the VED is crippling and the choice of used cars is getting pretty woeful......I wonder what the VED rate will be in 2026?!

I feel for both of you. Are hybrids and full electrics much cheaper? I'd think the Channel Islands would be very suitable for them.

Unfortunately I think it’s only going to go up as it has done for the last few years. :( It just means that used cars become really expensive because there is such limited supply on Jersey and they’re too expensive to import. Also do you have a link to the cl63 advert I haven’t seen it yet?

You’re getting me started now - we only have one main dealer that sells all brands Merc, Audi, BMW, Volvo, Porsche, Mini, VW, etc and they are the only place selling new cars from those brands, so they have basically a monopoly on new cars in Jersey and in my opinion slightly take the Mickey. We had for a period similar to the uk a monetary incentive from the government but there were very few sub 40k new electric cars that were for sale that it could be used on. But yes the Channel Islands would be the perfect place for hybrids - my parents are currently looking to replace our Audi q5 for a c300e hybrid - perfect for short journeys in Jersey and then fine for trips to France and Scotland, but the last one that came up for sale sold the same day!

Not a fan of the wheels myself. Much prefer the 5-spoke 18's, which, I understand, give a better ride than 19's or 20's.

Agreed - I bet it'll be £10,500 for the top band next year.............Not advert made live yet (it will likely go on hammer price/insight) - as it's having new rear brakes done on the 29th May, so wanted those done before test drives (front discs/pads already done) - but if you whatsapp me on 07829 990082 I can send you some pics. Selling due to lack of space :-(

If it goes up 25% again like it did from 2024 to 2025 it'll be £12,401 in 2026..........

Id have thought even the smallest battery EV would be more than enough for the islands.....cant really see the advantages of the unnecessarily complex hybrid over there......unless you regularly leave the island with it of course....them you might need it....but for most a 200/300 mile EV would do the job even here in the UK.

If you want to drive an EV yes...........I don't :)

Fair enough....then stick to petrol unless you can save massive on a hybrid running costs. I would not have an EV either.....but I might be tempted if I lived on a small, speed limited island without enough roads to really enjoy a car anyway....especially if the car hardly left the island!!!
