Any hand held code readers recommended,I'm looking for something cheap(ish) that can also turn of warning lights if when the situation should occur,
Cheers Marty!
The iCarsoft is a good tool, it may seem pricey for a code reader but an indy may charge £60 + vat to do the same so a couple of these and you could have bought one plus it can also be sold on for around 70% of its purchase price when / if you sell the Merc.
Even £5 generic OBD2 readers will erase fault codes. My philosophy has been to buy a cheap one that connects to any android device and throw it in the glove box. When and if I need something better I'll buy one. Fingers crossed it's 3 years now with my W204 and no faults.

They come with software. If you want something better Torque pro is the most commonly used one which can be downloaded for a few pounds. There is also a free version Torque lite.
One thing I learnt was that all the cheap/modestly priced ones are based on a cloned Elm327 chip so it doesn't much matter which one you buy. You could pay £30 or £3 and it might be the same inside. However if you pay a lot for a scanner make sure it has a genuine Elm327 chip.
