E350cdi Coupe 2012, R230 Sl350 2003 + CLK 320CDi ( will be putting it up for sale)
Hello all,
FInally decided to move from my CLK320 after 6 years of great motoring to its' sucessor the E coupe. Couple of issues to fix and I want to try a hard reset to my comand which is I believe an NTG4.5 ( 2012 carwhich has sd card slot on front of unit). Can anyone tell me if this is safe as I dont fancy losing the installed map?
FYI, the issue I have is that the OBC mpg display runs fine for "from start" but no values display when viewing "from reset" ( just shows zero mpg in the display and the bar chart columns are all also at zero. I'm hoping this is a software glitch as consumption is clearly capable of being measured hence my desire to do the usual " turn it off and then on again" approach.
thanks if you can assist
Martin

Your unit is indeed COMAND NTG4.5.

No idea what the 'hard reset' does, but I find it hard to believe that it will delete the maps.

Said that, if you are worried about the 'hard reset', have you considered removing the fuse instead?

And, have you considered a firmware upgrade (Dealer/Indy job)?

Re map deletion, Well I thought it would probably be unlikely but I dont fancy the grief of fixing things if I make a BIG mistake :-)
I did think of the fuse pulling but I'm imagining that the hard reset is there for a reason which if it "refreshes" the installation might be my saviour, but then again it might not! Re firmware, Another avenue for me to explore, --thanks

If this is the reset option under the main menu of the engineering mode then all it does is the same thing as removing the power briefly. It will not refresh any firmware but it will force the whole system to reboot from afresh.

Well I seem to been lucky ! :-) Excellent, it's done the trick & all now working as designed ( i had already done the reset from the normal user interfacer with no joy). If only all mercedes faults could be so straightforward !
thanks
Martin
