Anybody know if there are any insurers out there that specialise in insuring Mercedes cars.

My insurance is due for renewal shortly so i am doing a bit of shopping round.

Cheers

The problem is that everyone's circumstances are different, different model of car-age of driver- geographical location-projected mileage etc etc A company which gives one driver a good deal might be prohibitively expensive for another.
Your best bet is to pop your details into some of the online insurance broker sites and let them find the best deal/deals for you. Various members have found that it pays to shop around every year to get the best deal as a "new " customer. I did notice a small booklet on sale in W H Smiths recently which reviewed car insurance so might be worth looking for.

Absolutely - this topic comes up regularly and it's impossible to make any sort of comparison with the experiences of others.

Having said that, www.confused.com is as good a place as any to start.

I've just finished going through a right palaver getting the Saab insured. Esure do the Mercedes for me for £213 fully comp and protected NCD, so I thought being a valued customer that adding on the Saab TPF&T would be a snap.

Not a chance - weren't interested - so chased me off with a ridiculous quote of £140 for 49 days temporary cover.

Finished up with £108 (for the year) with www.localbroker.co.uk - never heard of them....

Though I agree that everyones circumstance is different, I have found Barclays to be very cheap. I've had (been having) a horrible experience with DirectLine... I don't plan to touch them again...

Admiral have been the best for me, I had to start from scratch with nil no claims bonus after splitting from my wife (my cars had always been in her name). I got cover for £463 on my 320, not bad for a group 16 car I thought. As a comparison, Norwich Union "quoted me happy" at £1006!!!

One tip when getting quotes is to add an older female relative as a named driver. Adding my 67 year old aunt saved me £110 believe it or not. Strange but true...

I used confused.com to get a list of quotes that I presented to my brokers. They talked to the insurers and came back with a renewal premium that matched the lowest quote and sliced hundreds off their original renewal premium. That was RH Specialist Car Division, and I'm sticking with them. I've just renewed the classics policy on three cars -- W126 300 SE, E300 twin turbo, Capri 2.8i -- for £438 all in.
