Cover recommendations for an R172

looking for UK recommendations for a cover please, nothing too cheap nor too expensive, ideally up to 150£ ish. Fed up with cleaning my Obsidian black for it to get dirty before it's driven again! thanks.

Hiya, anything with two layers, the inner one being soft, and the whole thing is breathable, sadly cost isn't always a good guide, some cheapish ones can be very good. Don't forget to remove it once a week.

I'll drink to that, I had one for my Stag, Lovely, expensive though.

For outdoor use you want the best fitting tailored cover you can get - any movement when the wind blows and the paintwork will eventually get scuffed. You will struggle to get anything decent for £150 though. Covercraft make good ones ... I had a 'Noah' one on my R129 until I got a garage.

How good was your Noah, did it lift in high winds ? Any problem with scratched paintwork or humidity inside . Mine lives outside in Wales , no trees but it rains and blows a lot

All covers are a bit of a compromise ... the Noah worked very well for me, the only negative really is that it's quite heavy/bulky. The shape and fit were excellent - they even did different versions for the R129 depending on the shape of door mirror (rectangular or oval).

Found these pictures from after we moved - I used it as an indoor cover for a little while before getting a lightweight cotton one. The Noah was then bought by a member here. There's a reinforced eyelet at the bottom of the cover in the middle of the car - they supply a plastic-covered steel cable that goes underneath from one side to the other. This is for security (I had a padlock on it), but also helps retain the cover.

Thanks, really usefull info. Will decide wether or not to buy one in the late autumn if we have not progressed with a large car port for which we have PP. Do not want to leave the car outside for a second winter even though I use it all year round.

I know, we had a Smart Convertible which was garaged when we lived in Jersey, arrived here in West Wales with no garage and hood was green after 3 months! Bought a cover which solved the problem but ended up not using it too often, traded it in for the RAV4 after a winter. Fully intend to build the carport but problems with finalising my mother's estate and now Coronavirus makes it increasingly likely will not get it done by the winter, cover would only be a short term fix

car is only used (outside the current climate!) once a week max, so happy to cover and uncover, although carports are good. my father made me buy one in 1987 for my first car so he didnt have to give up garage space

Thanks for all recommendations guys. i've gone for the everycarcovered weatherpro, for £155 posted, 2 year warranty. will let you know my thoughts, best get out there and polish the car up before it arrives!

Hiya Mart, I've got the Everycarcovered cap to protect the hood from bird c... snow, leaver etc. Works well and gets taken off weekly to avoid condensation. Good luck
