Hi, I’ve recently replaced 4no bent valves in my 1985 230CE automatic and doing so managed some how to break the crank sensor. It seems these are no longer available to buy new is there anyone out there that knows of a replacement or maybe a second hand one?

Welcome.

Can you see the MB part number on the sensor? Or any other identification marks? If so, then post it here.

Andy.

Welcome.

I imagine that the sensor was used on a number of different models so it may be worth searching along those lines

Unfortunately I don't have access to the Electronic Parts Catalogue but I know many members do so hopefully there will be someone who can check.

Mercedes didn't make the part, probably Bosch or similar. Do you have any manufacturer part number you can search on?

Regards

David

I see Markjay beat me to the reply 😁👌

That number is the diagnostic sensor not the crank sensor, do you need the sensor at the front or the rear of the engine?

There is a Febi version available which would be my preference, or there are plenty of used originals around.

I wouldn't take that information as gospel, if it was provided by the dealer's parts counter.

Try and see if there are any marks on the broken part itself.

Tricky. Hella and Beru both NLA.

I would avoid Febi as their quality is, at best, variable, but you may have no choice.

Good luck.

Sorry for late reply it’s the front sensor sat next to the crank pulley.

That's the diagnostic sensor, it has no part to play in the operation of the engine. I've got a few here if you really want one but my advice is to remove it completely.

Thanks for that if you have one i will buy it from you as I’d like to keep the car original if possible
Thanks

No problem, I'll dig one out.
