I have been reading a few Posts on here that advocate the purchase and use of a DI Vessel, can anyone give me the low-down on their true usability and effectiveness as a owner, without referencing out to "Detailing World" please!

I find that Posts that cross refer out to other Forums tend to send me round in a loop and I end up confused (easily done):dk:

I live in a hard water area and my drive is in the sun from early morning through to early evening in the summer months which made washing my car without leaving water marks on it nigh on impossible. Feeding the rinse water hose through a DI Vessel means I can wash an Obsidian Black car in full midday sun leaving absolutely no water marks. I don't even have to dry the car off to avoid them.

i am too contemplating getting one of these, but may opt for a refurbished vessel, (seller on ebay) and resin separately as it works out around £80 for an 11l vessel with resin.

The other option I'm considering is using deionized water (from ECP when on offer) to rinse, which can be had for less than £1.50 for 5 litres, which should give the same result?

Which Di vessel?

I live in an area where the the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) varies between 314 and 324 so very hard water. The upshot is that when cleaning on a warm to hot day, water leaves rings and marks as it dries.

Using a DI Vessel means the TDS is zero so as others have said, no water marks are left when the car is washed on a sunny day or even if left to dry after a good rinse......works best if I unclip the spray nozzle and I never rinse with a jet wash.

This company has sold to several on here, usually the 11L vessel....look out for special offers on the vessels and the bags of resin and I would buy a testing meter as well as a funnel.

I have been using a Race Glaze Water Filter for about 3 years now, with a fleet of blue/black cars to deal with its been an absolutely brilliant product. I started with a 7L and now have a 14L.

The benefits are clearly stated above - you simply rinse off the tap water residues at the end of your wash process with a wave of filtered water and walk away. No need to dry. make sure you spray inside wing mirrors and around boot lips (places where water trickles out later on). Even in bright sunshine, no water marks.

The key thing is to use this water sparingly - an average car can easily be walked round in less than a minute. Allow more for S-Class etc, but a hose on half pressure will minimise usage. Don't use a P/W - uses too much water and doesn't get that wave effect.

There is some science to the shape of vessels which is clearly explained on here - its all about aspect ratio (best is tall and thin, not short and squat). Its not purely about capacity of the vessel. Unfortunately the 11L shape vessel isn't very efficient so it will cost you more in resin refills over the long run than a more efficient unit.

Which Di vessel?
I have a Race Glaze 7-litre vessel, which I find gives no spotting for at least 7 washes, and I tend to rinse as I go, which is probably more profligate with water than I could be if I was more careful with it.
