We'd booked my car in to have my Next base Duo hard wired in. The recent ding I had got the motion going to get the existing unit fitted. We gave the guy my car details and the camera I'm asking them to install. A week later hubby went for the appointment this afternoon. Some 10 mins in the guy rang hubby to say he couldn't install it. It transpires the key way of the NB duo (it's old) is different to the kits they sell. If hubby had brought the cigarette lighter cable, then he could have adapted (simplified for lack of knowledge!) that and installed it.

I'm sure it will work fine and not the first A207 they've done, but come on we communicated all the info. Very frustrating:wallbash:.

I'm a little puzzled and would be interested to know in what way a NextBase Duo is different in terms of hardwiring. 🤔

Could be a difference in the way the cam mounts to the shoe on the screen. I dumped Nextbase for Blackvue years ago after three units failed under warranty.

I messaged NB yesterday and they've replied over night saying the HWK on their website is for series 2 models and mine is a series 1 and is not back compatible. But yet I found this today with 5 mins on the Web.

I don't know whether to purchase a series 2 kit and fingers crossed. I'm getting the vibes the easy option is to purchase an up to,date camera. Annoyingly the current camera works fine, as in it powered up via the cigarette lighter.

From that quote on Dashcamtalk, it appears the series 2 kit has a slightly higher rated DC-DC converter and a modified connector shell. As long as the connector is still a mini USB, then I can't see how the V2 HFK wouldn't be reverse compatible; the higher output of the power supply (2A vs 1.5A) isn't an issue in your case as your cam obviously draws less than the newer version.

T, I'm so sorry but just after my post I purchased the series 2 kit. We'll see how it goes and proves successful as per the dash cam forum. I'm very gracious for your help and offer though.

Cherry.
