Does anyone know about Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs)?

Offspring is currently working for a small, profitable company where there is one in place. She has been offered another job at a much, much bigger co. & in her discussions with her current boss the company's EOT has been brought up as a reason to stay by her boss, the CEO & for all intents & purposes the owner, who wants her to stay.

Bit woolly on these TBA. Anyone know about them, how it would eventually benefit her if she stays & what pitfalls to avoid so as not to get screwed?

I guess the key question is to what extent the EOT benefits the staff, and how long they may need to wait to see that benefit crystalised into £££'s.
