Difficult to say whether this is the cause of your noise, but that joint has seen better days, to say the least. The rubber boot is well gone and looks like its been that way for a while, so road muck will have been getting in and won't have helped. I would say as well that if one part of your suspension/steering is in that condition, as well as replacing the defective joint it would be well worth getting everything else checked.

Thanks for replying, aye i also checked the other wheel and wife's car joints and they all got rubber.Aye thanks i didn't knew that part had a rubber protector around. Car going to service next month,I'll tell the lads to replace both joints

Looking at the state of that, I'd advise inspection of every joint and bush in your suspension.

Thanks i will.
Whats the name of that joint on the picture? Its lower joint or something?

Be honest OP, that must have been flagged in at least 2 past MOT. lol

With all rubber and suspension related items - whatever you do on one side - do on the other.

hard to see what it is from the pic (not enough view overall). track rod end, wishbone anyones guess

if you want to help your mechanic - gice that a clean and soak with plus gas a few times before going in.
