Hi will someone have information on how to remove the door card please. This car i have just been given is makeing this noise as i open the front door .All in our street can tell when i am on the way out in the car.The check strap modual wants replacing.I dont think there is a quick fix for it ,i have greased it oiled it still the same. Have these cars got the normal clips in the card that push in to a hole in the door.At the moment every thing i try to put right gets broken. Thank you for viewing.

Just had to fix a door on my W124, making an awful racket when opening and closing, turned out to be the check-strap mounting in the door-skin, must have worked loose sometime and opened up the bolt hole allowing the mounting bolt to float around squealing and clunking, couple of penny washers and it seems happy enough now.

Good info

Thank you lads i did check this guy out on You Tube, and this guy did break a clip or two like me.Nothing like the old cars with push in studs .And as the post before had said, i did find just the same problem the fixing inside the door had worked loose, and movement was making it shoot from one side of the hole to the other, like a gunshot.Washer with 2 flats filled in to it to fit the recess exactly so it cannot move again. Thank you all again :thumb::thumb: If it comes undone again i will try and get a nut on the back of it.

why is that bloke in the vid trying to lift the door panel with handle still in? handle has to be removed in order to get door card out as door handle "sits" in door frame making it impossible to remove door card. Lock pin is not in way, leave it there.

Well i thought i had fixed mine with the penny washer trick, but i wanted to remove it .Good job i did because only one bolt in the inner door secure. And the other 2 lugs on modual had parted company .So i purchased another one .Good job i removed it .

Door check strap modual

As the post said i had did have this problem with my door strap replacement .The door card was not to bad to remove after i was given instructions from you gents.Thank you all for that. The job took just over 10 mins thats greasing up new strap and fitting it , this one came with a nice plastic type cover. Now the problems started. The door card went on very good but then the nylon hook on the right hand side top was to high to fit in the hole on the door. All the others were in but for this one .So removed it again for the 3rd time. You take more time fitting the doorcard back than it took to replace modual. So looking at the cllip it looks to me as if its adjustable ,after door card is on, you have to tap bracket down to seat in the slot in the door. Can anyone second that please.

Definitely had to tap my card to get it all to line up properly, also had to fiddle with wing mirror gubbins a fair amount iirc...

info

Balge This post of mine ,about the door strap modual .And to tell you all what i found in the end .Yes i did fix the problem as i thought , by the penny washer, as i had said. This is just what i did .But thinking about it overnight in bed, came to another decision to remove the strap and inspect it further. You all know what a funny job it is to remove the cards ,and to refit after. I did not want to remove it again.Well out came the tools ,first i removed the top bolt ,not the one in the door face. And as i did i heard a a noise as i removed the bolt. This made me think that it was a nut faling inside the door .This happened on the second bolt also. Then it came to me that both lugs had broken off the strap , and this had made the distortion of the bolt hole ,the one that i had to fit the penny washer in to.So if you have an hole that is damaged , do remove the strap and inspect it .I hope this will help you all .:thumb:
