Afternoon all,

New to the forum and first posting please help?

Following many google and forum searches, I don't seem to have found the exact same issue I am experiencing, when unlocking the car with the key fob, both driver and passenger doors appear to unlock, pins rise as expected and the internal door mechanics are audible, however the car is still locked. When pulling both driver and passenger door handles, there is no resistance - pins up but still locked.
Using the key fob, I can repeat the lock / unlock process several times and occasionally the locks will release, however if not, I can use the physical key from the key fob successfully.
I guess my queries are as follows:
1. Could it be the main battery? As far as I am aware this has never been replaced and the Start / Stop function has not been available for several years
Or
2. Is this going to be a full strip-down to both doors to replace the complete actuator units?

Any help appreciated.

I would start with spraying some lube into every lock type gap , something like silicone or GT85 rather than WD

Thanks W1ghty, I will certainly give it a go as i'ts definitely a cheaper option

Definitely not regular WD40, it will “gunk up” very quickly.

I would say it’s unlikely to be the battery but low voltage can do all sorts of strange things to cars. Do you have - or do you know anyone with - a battery conditioner or charger? Give it a charge, even if it doesn’t fix the lock issue then it will do the battery and car good.

Thanks all, just soaked both mechanisms in GT85, as recommended, initial testing is good, but it can be like that, sometimes issue doesn't happen for a week or two but comes back with vengeance!
It's going in for B3 on Friday so will get them to check it over.
Thanks again

You should spray your locks and jiggle the emergency key yearly , especially the boot lock :)

Let us know how you resolve this, I have 2012 S204 that does the same intermittently but only the drivers door affected.
Have cancelled the automatic locking as a couple of times the inside door handle would not open the door.
Manual key always works though,
Peter
