This problem has cropped up twice now. We thought the garage had sorted it but obviously not!

The windows don't work, the sunroof won't open and, crucially, the wipers are dead.

It's an E220 estate on an "M" prefix.

Anyone got any ideas what's wrong with it?

have you got climate control? This caused all sorts of silly faults with a car i had...

I'm looking for a wiring diag for rear wash/wipe on a 1988 230TE (estate - which isn't in my Haynes manual). Have had a look at this link...but can't see what I'm looking for. Any other locations of wiring diags??

Thx

What are the symptoms ? - the most common failure (IIRC) is the wiper shaft - water ingress causes big style corrossion - if you get it on the bench you may be able to free it off.

I have dug deeper on the Russian (?) web link, and found the diag I was looking for.

By the way, I have also had the rear wiper motor on the bench, and the shaft was almost completely seized up. Have freed it up now, but none of the intermittant etc bits work now, so was looking to by-pass the wiper motor to feed the rear washer motor. This should be OK now. Thx.

Sounds to me like a faulty SAM unit.
