Hi
Message (in yellow) came on dash with airbag symbol saying Front Right Restraint System malfunction. Is this likely airbag or seat belt tensioner. Any obvious checks to carry out. I wondered if disconnecting battery and then check connectors under drivers seat. Appreciate any help as garage cant look at it for several weeks.

Thanks
Matt

The only way to know which SRS component has failed, is by connecting the car to STAR (or iCarsoft, if DIY).

The most common issues are a failed front passenger seat occupancy sensor (aka sensor mat), and the seatbelt mechanism. And obviously the electric connector under the seat.

However, even if you did manage to replace the faulty part via guesswork, you'll likely still need STAR (or iCarsoft) to delete the fault and extinguish the warning message.

Incidentally, amber messages generally means seek assistance but OK to drive the car, while red messages mean stop and do not drive.

Incidentally, if the car had a dealer service in the past 12 month, it will be covered by Mobilo Roadside Assistance.

If you call them and ask for a tech with STAR, they will come to your house and scan the car for you (obviously you can refuse having the car towed to a local dealer).

The potential issue however is that they might not come out for an amber message (because the car can be driven). Still, worth a shot.

Many thanks appreciate the advice. Dont have option to call assistance unfortunately. Will have to wait for garage as he has STAR.

It won’t be the occupancy sensor as the problem is on the right. I had the same message. ICarsoft identified a problem with the driver’s seat belt buckle, a replacement from eBay and all was well.
It might be worth buying an iCarsoft unit, it pays for itself after a couple of uses.
