I have an issue with my 2014 E300 Hybrid—specifically, the diesel engine is not engaging.
The car starts with the electric motor and runs for a while, but when I press the gas pedal, the diesel engine does not kick in. Instead, a malfunction warning appears. Please see the video. ( New video by Sertan Cetiner )
I initially suspected an issue with the starter, so I tested it by short-circuiting the plug above the air filter box (with the purple cable). The starter worked. I then checked the starter relay, which was also functioning correctly. I pulled the cable inside the car from starter feed and checked whether the starter cable get any voltage or not and saw the there is no trigger voltage for a starter.
Next, I tested the main 12V battery (it was the original battery, 10 years old) and found it only had 11 volts. So I replaced it with a new AGM battery and also checked the auxiliary battery, which showed 13.4V. I noticed that the auxiliary battery had already been replaced previously. So, I ruled out battery issues.
if I turn the ignition switch to the first level and set the car to S mode, the diesel engine starts alongside the electric motor. The car then drives well on diesel and receives additional power from the electric motor when I press the gas pedal hard. When I release the gas pedal, the high-voltage battery recharges itself. Based on this, I believe there is no issue with the electric motor or charging of the high-voltage battery.

I took the car to a private garage, where they ran a Star Diagnostic test. They told me that the software needs an update, which will cost me 350 euros.
Before proceeding, I wanted to ask for advice here. Unfortunately, I am stuck with this issue and don’t know what else to check.
I would appreciate any advice on this.
Regards
