I have recently bought a 2006 E320 CDI sport and on the whole am really pleased with it.
The car judders when accelerating hard and then goes into a limp mode but does not show any light on the dash. A quick restart of the engine normally clears it and normal acceleration resumes. Normal steady acceleration seems to be fine.
I’ve also noticed that this tends to only happen when the car is warm and then I stop for a bit – say 10-40 minutes later. For instance if I pop into a shop/restaurant. It seems fine when it is fully warm or cold. There are a few threads here but mostly without conclusion. Can somebody advise if they had the same problem and what fixed it?
My car is going in for its Service C and I will get this looked at but its good to have done some homework.
