E500

Not a fan of the interior.....
Hmm I love the colour of the leather, it's like the old palomino. It looks a bit like someone bought some secondhand seats and bolted them in though. They did it properly with my 190 - everything braahn!

It should be very easy to get it all black though, no matching plastic trim etc to match, just dye the leather.

No! The Cappuccino leather looks great in the flesh (excuse the pun). I had that combination in a CLK and had unsolicited compliments all the time.

I'm not a fan of the E coupé, especially in that particular iteration, but with great spec and a peach of an engine, that's a lot of car for £10k.

I have that leather in my E350 and it does look good in the cabin and in the flesh

High mpg and tax, but a lovely noise no doubt....

Not far from me but it's black (never again) and I still like mine

The frustrating part as well is that’s it’s based on a C Class platform. I’d feel short changed..

The E500 Coupe/Cabrio replaced the CLK500.

Yes it's based on the C-Class floorpan, but it's not a bad thing as the smaller/lighter chassis makes the car more agile and sporty (though admittedly less composed and clam on Motorways cruising...) which better suits a Coupe/Cabrio car.

And the interior is up to E-Class standard in terms of trim level and luxury.

So not a bad offering from MB, in my view.....

Well summarised..... but here's my concern .....

For £10k asking, the 2009 E500 is a car that cost £50k ten years ago. Which is great.

But for an extra £3,000, you could get a CL500 that cost £80k ten years ago. And which is based on the S Class platform & circuitry.

Yes, I know it'll be more expensive to maintain but you know.....

Running costs on an SL500 vs an E coupe, plus the additional £3k makes it a much more expensive car though......

But then it is a much more expensive car as you say....

I think the E500 & CLK500 and the only modern(ish) V8 Mercs with regular coil suspension? That makes them so much more viable as a daily runner.

You still get the pillarless windows which are bloody fantastic.

E500s have been standard airmatic for a good many years now.

Edit: oh, wait, no, that’s not true is it: the C207 was coil sprung to the end! Indeed a benefit when it comes to running costs.

Looks like it's been sold to someone.... Nice motor.

Howdy! It's my first post up on this forum... I've tended to dock in from time to time, but I've not posted before. I have had my E500 Coupe (it's a run-out 2011 12MY model with the 4.7 TT V8 402bhp/600Nm engine, with the second generation architecture - in edition 125 sport blue efficiency guise - which has panoramic roof, command, etc. I was really lucky when I purchased it in 2015, as I didn't realise how rare they were, I just fell in love with the rumble on start up and awesome power. Any one else on this forum with the same year E500 coupe? I have just clocked 43,000 miles on her.

Welcome! Nice car... what colour combo do you have? Someone round here has a cabrio one: PaulXC I think?

Welcome Bossafunk ! Mine's a E500 2012 Cabrio but with the same 4.7TT V8 currently at 25,000 miles. I think these cars are a real sweet spot, silly performance but pretty economical and not in the highest VED band.

PaulXC, I totally agree, as far as wolves in sheeps clothing, what a beast! The most underated coupe in my opinion. I can actually get two adults in the back... and luggage in the boot, and still rip up the bitumen in it. The only issue with adults in the back is ingress/egress... it can be tight if you are old and less flexible!

This is her...

Hello. Mine is the 5.5 natural aspirated (2010) (cabriolet and estate). Tall people can rub their heads on the roof lining in the back of my cabriolet - is it the same in the coupe? My advice to the less young is to exit the rear seats by turning around and coming out backwards...it’s less tricky that way as far as leg movements / limb dexterity is concerned. I would like a coupe (if I didn’t have the estate) but I think MB should have made the coupe with a rear opening like a hatchback (so there isn’t a fixed shelf and window-basically) as it would be so much more flexible for loading (like an estate) without that limitation (just my opinion of course).
