E550 2008 on 220k for £7,500 ?

Covered 220k, still going strong and looks like it's in good condition considering the mileage covered by this V8. Looking at the MOT history, it tends to pass first time round indicating its been looked aftered. No photos of inside to check for wear but these cars are fairly robust and do wear well. Not sure on the price but looks like has a clean MOT history 👍

I was impressed by the 20k a year since 2015. Usually it’s stronger mileages initially and then lower mileages as the vehicle goes into its second decade

But, as Juke says, it’s nothing like an informative advert. Without photos and service history, who knows whether it’s worth whatever or whatever?

And why is it an E550 rather an E500 ?

I suspect that it’s to make it sound like more than - or different to - what it actually is. Whilst it has a 5.5 litre engine it was badged and marketed as the E 500 in the UK as you know.

It’s also described as being a Sport AMG line: and whilst Sport may have possibly been a trim level in 2008, I’m not sure AMG line was - I think that came along later - I could be wrong though.

Perhaps the vendor thinks describing it as E 550 and AMG evokes thoughts of the E 55 AMG - or a limited production car - or maybe that’s just how it was described when they bought it.

It’s nice to see that a car like this has been used as intended, covering serious distances in comfort. Covering high miles later in life was a good idea as the fuel consumption with low depreciation.

PS Don’t buy it though, I would hold out for the one you really want, the Mercedes-AMG E 550 Sport AMG Line Black Series Night Edition Premium Plus 125 Navi version. That’s the one to have.

Don't people clean cars before they take the photos for the advert any more??
It's an interesting tactic. Is this an "I'm not really interested but thought the advert might tickle interest," or is it "I'm so busy with other more important stuff, I don't really have time?"

No such thing as AMG Line back then. Throbber alert.

I'm pretty sure all all the facelift 211s were Sports.

And they didn't come with those horrible Murdered Out Edition wheels. Gah.

I've no idea what goes through the heads of people like this but, looking at the upside, it saves people like me a wasted trip.

Flexes fingers....... Sport and Sport AMG package (not AMG line) were two option packages on the E500 in 2008.

Sport AMG package included:

18" AMG 5 spoke sterling silver alloys, obviously not the ones that he's got.
Moulded side skirts, front/rear aprons and bumpers, not the ones he's got.
Chromed tail pipes (not his)
Lowered sports suspension
Larger brakes and calibers and perforated disks
Leather was "just" standard artico, not Nappa.
Flappy paddles
Sports seats
Studded, brushed aluminium pedals
AMG steering wheel, and, .... most important of all.....
AMG floor mats

"Most" of the facelift 211's sold in the UK were Sports, but four options were offered in the UK: Elegance, Avantgarde, Sport, and Sport AMG.

My glorious luxury estate is an Avantgarde, and I relish its non-sport seats and and non-sport suspension. Because I like a luxury estate, not a sports estate. (Each to their own)

For what it's worth, I "think" that E550 was only the model name in the USA (for the 5.5 engine facelift), but other markets may have seen it. MoT history suggests that this vehicle has been a UK car from three years old, and probably from new.

"People often describe me as pedantic. However I don't think it's true in the strictest sense of the word"

I'm guessing the tail pipes were chrome once; although I'm also guessing that it's either an aftermarket system/backbox or just tailpipes. Whatever, it's not done well. The Nearside one protrudes more than the Offside.
Yes, I am Mr Picky 😁

I wasn't precise enough....

If it was an AMG Sport, both sides would be twin, chromed, AMG pipes. Not single chromed pipe on each side, like his....

I had those tailpipes on my CLS500 with the factory AMG styling package. That's all they are, tailpipe trims, with an AMG logo embossed in them, the rear silencer boxes are the same as stock.

That would account for one sticking out more than the other.
