Just finalised the itinerary for this year's family roadtrip in Old Faithful in July/August

Edinburgh - Newcastle
Newcastle - Amsterdam
Amsterdam - Trier/Mosel Valley
Trier - Hinterzarten/Black Forest
Hinterzarten - St Gervais-Les Bains
St Gervais - Dourdogne
Dourdogne - Cherbourg
Cherbourg - Poole
Poole - Cullompton
Cullompton - Ribble Valley
Ribble Valley - Edinburgh

3 weeks in total - will post pics as per 2 years ago Spanish adventure

if anyone has any tips on de-restricted Autobahn in south westeern Germany my kids are insisting on seeing how fast the car will go

car just in for service, new tyres all round, wheel alignment, sure there will be a few other bits and bobs as done 9k miles in the last year

might just be time to say good bye at the end of the summer as moving to the Highlands full time and a 4x4 required for the winter. Not decided yet.

Great trip. Apart from the autobahn I recommend running down from Trier to Baden Baden then to Hinterzarten you got to take the B500 Scwarzwaldhochstrasse. Outstanding road but loads of bikes at the weekend.
Plenty of derestricted autobahnen in SW Germany. Main problems are roadworks and truck traffic during the week. Last year I only managed 140mph in my CLS55.
Best time for a Vmax run is early Sunday morning.
Do you still have the 155mph limiter?

Thanks for the tips

No limiter!

So that'll be 170. Maybe more if you strip the boot out and leave the family at the hotel. Duct tape over the grille and fold back the mirrors. Pump tyres for minimal rolling resistance. You going to measure it on speedo or GPS?
Had my bike at 175. Need to recalibrate brain to allow for closing speed of 110 on trucks.

Yep, Sunday morning is a very good shout. The closing speed takes some getting used to. Can't imagine how mental that must be on a bike.

GPS for sure.

My oldest one will kill me if I leave her at home!

Just back from service at Klasse in East Calder. A bang up job from Colin and co. as usual.

Oil air filter and brake fluid change.

Outside rear suspension arm change and runion Bush- finally cured the 3 year creak from the back end

New Pagid discs and Pads fitted all round, plus new front hoses - nearly went through windscreen first hard application of brakes

4x Dunlop Sport Maxx - went for these as Goodyear F1 3s are out of production and the 5s not available. First impressions are very good in terms of noise, braking and grip.

Wheel alignment done to a very high standard.

Going back at beginning of July for final few pre-trial jobs... auxiliary belts, tensioner.

82,279 miles going strong

82279 miles is just nicely run in. The 113K mill runs to six two and we probably spend most time below three five.
Looks like you're getting everything fettled in good time for your Vmax attempt. Always good to do stuff early and have a couple of shakedown runs before you go.
BTW who removed your limiter? I'll have mine done before my August roadtrip. What sort of price? I'm told it can be done via the OBD port without breaking into the ECU.

Mine was done at Eurocharged UK in Watford in 2016 when they remapped on rolling road alongside fitting EC headers and EC smaller supercharger pulley. They have been out of business for a while and went down in whatever the opposite of a blaze of glory is, costing several forums members big bucks in lost parts etc.

The default choice now is MSL Performance in Birmingham. Rock solid reputation. They are now the UK Eurocharged agent and have their own rolling road Homepage | MSL Performance | Custom ECU remaps | Tuning specialist

I seem to remember paying about £450 at the time for the remap and delimit but this was part of a bigger job/bill! Give MSL a call and get the delimit done alongside a remap.

Was thinking about a remap but the car's on the edge already on public roads. On the autobahn last year the acceleration was fearsome with the kompressor howling.
I've been offered a delimit via OBD port for £100.

Heading off tomorrow morning and had a chance to give her a bit of a clean inside and out. Looking pretty decent for a 15 year old car, few battle scars but ready for the next adventure. Going to be very hard to let her go!

Nowt wrong with getting on a bit when you (the car) still looks that good.....
I trust your air con is also working well based on temps in CE now.

Hope you get some mpg out of it over the three weeks (though what might it drop to on the Autobahn ?)
